Patents
Since Lithuania is a contracting party to the Patent Cooperation Treaty and the European Patent Convention protection of an invention may be obtained through the following routes:
1. national patenting
procedure;
2. PCT procedure;
3. validation/extension
of European patents.
When choosing among these procedures it might be helpful to know that the
Lithuanian SPB examiners do not conduct searches and examination against the
criteria of novelty.
Non-patentable inventions include inter alia:
A foreign applicant being not resident of the European Community and seeking
to patent his invention in Lithuania has to appoint a local agent to act before
the local Patent Office.
All the documents submitted to the SPB in this country should be in Lithuanian.
Our professional translators experienced in the field of IP are a guarantee
of precision and non-disclosure of the patent and other confidential information.
Disputes that may arise between the applicant and the SPB examiners are subject
to consideration by the SPB Appeal Board. All other disputes initiated by
third persons are subject to court consideration.
